Year of Germany at MPEI

Cooperation between National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” and German universities and organizations has been continuing for decades. The first German students appeared in MPEI in 1956 and the first contract was signed in 1967 with Technical University of Ilmenau. Till that moment a huge range of joint educational and research programs with German universities and organizations has been realized. On the 13th of October 1971 for its merits in development of USSR-German relations MPEI was awarded the order “Labour Ensign” of the German Democratic Republic.

According to that fact, in honor of 50th anniversary of cooperation with Germany, the year 2017 was announced as The Year of Germany at MPEI.
