This colloquium is a major event in the sphere of information technologies for power engineering that is held in Russia for the first time. The event was organized by RNC CIGRE with assistance of PJSC FGC UES, PJSC Rosseti and JSC SO UPS.Totally over 150 delegates from 26 countries participated in the event and among them more than a half were our foreign guests. In frames of the colloquium 40 reports in three main areas were prepared: "Program platforms of distributed energy resource management", "Resistance to cyberthreats of information and telecommunication systems in power engineering", "Highly reliable communications infrastructure for traditional and new applications in power engineering".Several reports were submitted by participants of RNC CIGRE youth section. Special attention was given to this section. So, on the 20th of September the meeting of CIGRE Secretary general Philip Adam with representatives of Youth section took place.During the event the prospects concerning CIGRE scientific activity, interaction between young specialists and Subcommittees and modern requirements to competences of engineers, electric power engineering specialists during the era of digital economy were discussed.During the meeting young scientists could communicate with CIGRE Secretary General and ask him questions about the modern information technologies impact on the branch and CIGRE role in development of the higher education. Speaking during the meeting, Philip Adam emphasized the importance of the youth area expansion, experience exchange, strengthening of contacts between representatives of national committee and the Russian Universities. MPEI staff and students made reports, presented their developments during the poster session and took active part in the Colloquium. The International Council on Large Electric Systems – CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Electriques) is the largest international non-governmental and non-profit organization in the field of power engineering. CIGRE was founded in 1921 in France and now it is one of the most authoritative research and technology associations that unites scientists and power engineering specialists from the whole world and it has strong impact on the branch development strategy of many countries.
