National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" students visited underground substation of FGC UES in Skolkovo

​32 students from MPEI have visited the first Russian underground power facility, 220 kV substation "Skolkovo". The event is organized within the signed agreement on cooperation between FGC UES and National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute".

During the excursion guests have seen the newest electric equipment of the underground substation, its design and development plans for the intellectual electric network founded by Federal Grid Company for electric power supply of the innovative technology Сenter.

The substation 220 kV "Skolkovo" has been put into operation in 2012 in order to electric power supply of the "Skolkovo" Innovative Center. This is the first underground power facility of 220 kV in Russia. The installed capacity of the substation is 126 MVA.

OJSC FGC UES is the world largest public grid company on the length of power lines and transformer capacity. It was founded in 2002 as the exclusive operator of the Federal Grid Company within reforming of the electrical power engineering industry. In the FGC UES area of responsibility there are 139 thousand km of high-voltage main feeds and 931 substations having general installed capacity more than 334,5 thousand MVA. The company provides reliable power supply for consumers in 77 regions of Russia, serving the area about 15,1 mln sq.km. At the expense of the electric power transferred on the networks of OJSC FGC UES about a half of cumulative energy consumption of all country is covered OJSC FGC UES is a part of OJSC "Rosseti", the largest Russian energy holding that possesses 80,13% of shares of the company. The number of personnel of FGC UES in 2015 was about 24 thousand people. The Chairman of the Executive Board is A. Murov.

The transmission system of the Center is the OJSC FGC UES branch. It works at the territory of the Central, Northwest and Southern federal districts. The zone of its servicing includes 19 subjects of the Russian Federation with the population more than 40 million people. The transmission system of the Center is responsible for continuity of service of 27,69 thousand km of electricity transmission lines and 195 substations having general transformer capacity of 96 253 MVA. The branch provides electric connection between Interconnected Power System of the Center and electric power systems of the South, Northwest, Volga, and it also interstates downflows with Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Seven entities of the transmission system are under the supervision – Valdai, Upper Don, Vologda, Volga-Don, Moscow, Priokskiy and Chernozem, and also personnel training Center "White Rast". Over 5200 people work at the transmission system department of the Center. CEO of the branch is Sergey Demin.
