The 21st Conference of Association of International Offices of Higher Education Institutions in Smolensk branch of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute"

Since the 21st of June to the 24th of June in Smolensk on the base of the branch of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" within the International Academic Forum there took place the 21st Conference of Association of International Offices of Higher Education Institutions AMO. 

 

This year the International Academic Forum was occasioned directly with three Anniversaries: the 70th Anniversary of foreign citizens training in National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute", the 55th Anniversary of the MPEI Smolensk branch and the 25th Anniversary of Association of International Offices of Higher Education Institutions.

AMO includes more than 40 Universities from 10 world countries. The main task of the organization is to develop the available communications between higher education institutions of the different countries.

At a conference welcome speech was made by Rector of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" professor N. Rogalev, Professor TU Ilmenau, SPITSE Chairman Matthias A. Hein, Vice Governor of Smolensk region Olga Okuneva, Federal inspector in the Smolensk region of the Plenipotentiary representative of RF President in the Central Federal district Alexey Brylev, MPEI branch director, Professor Alexander Fedulov. 

Opening of the International Academic Forum 

Within the held Conference there has been approved AMO new staff. Plenary papers were made by MPEI staff and guests: Vice Rector on International Relations V. Zamolodchikov, Director of MPEI branch in Volga M. Sultanov, Head of Department of International Relations A. Tarasov, Head of FDED M. Zhitnikova, representatives of National University of Science and Technology "MISIS" N. Krivolapov and S. Tarasova, T. Izvekova (Novosibirsk State Medical University), I. Efimenko (Moscow Technological Institute), L. Luchinin (Moscow State University of Railway Engineering), Marion Helemann (Technische Universität Dresden).

Conferees have discussed the prospects of joint educational programs, two diploma programs, possibilities of network interaction between Universities, development of the academic mobility, mutual recognition of academic degree. 

Following the results of the Conference there was taken the decision to elect a new AMO Vice-President in the person of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" Vice Rector Zamolodchikov V. Also there was decided to create a new uniform information platform on the basis of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" website (www.mpei.ru). 

Two Vice-Presidents of the Association – V. Zamolodchikov (MPEI) and Oleg Dukhlev (TU Sofia) sign the protocol of the 21st AMO Conference 

Head of International Department Marion Helemann on behalf of Dresden University of Technology made the report "AMO-2017" and the offer to hold the 22nd Conference to Dresden (TU Dresden), the offer was supported unanimously by participants of the Forum.

According to applications and recommendations of AMO members at the 21st Conference in Smolensk there were accepted new participants in the Conference of Association of International Offices of Higher Education Institutions: Moscow State Technological University “Stankin“ , National Research University of Electronic Technology "MIET", Moscow Technological Institute. 

The cultural program included a visit to MPEI museum complex Borodino, scientific and university laboratory also symposium participants laid flowers at the memorial dedicated to the heroism of MPEI students in the Great Patriotic War in the village Prudky.

The participants of the Conference expressed gratitude to MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI branch director, Professor Alexander Fedulov, organizers from MPEI branch in Smolensk and particularly deputy director of the branch Maxim Goncharov for the great work.
