The 22nd Conference of Association of International Offices at Dresden University of Technology

From the 19th of June to the 24th of June, 2017 a delegation of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" visited Germany to participate in the organizing committee of the 22nd Conference of Association of International Offices of Higher Education Institutions (AMO).

MPEI delegation included:

  • Vladimir Zamolodchikov - Vice Rector on international relations
  • Alexander Tarasov - Head of Department of International Relations
  • Elena Gulicheva - Deputy Chief of Department of International Relations

The conference has been held since 1991. This year host party was Dresden University of Technology.
Heads of the international offices of 18 universities from 4 countries, including representatives of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Federal Republic of Germany, and the Republic of Poland participated in the Conference.

The Conference was opened by Hans Georg Krauthäuser - Vice Rector on international relations of Dresden University of Technology, then participants were greeted by AMO Vice-presidents Oleg Ninov Dukhlev (Bulgaria, TU Sofia) and Vladimir Zamolodchikov (Russia, MPEI). AMO president Valentin Dimitrov (Bulgaria) gave his welcome speech to the organizing committee of the conference. Mrs. Shpirov - the project coordinator on training and internationalization - performed the presentation about Dresden University of Technology.

On the first day the excursion around the campus for the conference participants was arranged. They also visited the library. In frames of the first meeting the acquaintance to the internationalization strategy of TU Dresden and other participating Universities took place. MPEI representatives also made the report on development of cooperation with the universities and organizations of Germany and implementation of the Year of Germany at MPEI.

Then the mission statement of internationalization strategy and its measurability was discussed.

In frames of the visit to Dresden a meeting with prof. Stenzel - Rector of University of the Engineering and Economics of Dresden was arranged.

Conferees discussed scholarship programs of the European Union and the Government of The Free State of Thuringia and prospects for the development of exchange programs between Universities of AMO member countries.

During the conference participants visited University of Applied Sciences Zwickau.

Vice Rector on training prof. Hui-Fang Chiao met AMO representatives. A conversation with the representatives of Departments of University of Applied Sciences Zwickau about potential cooperation took place, and a tour around the university was arranged.

According to the protocol of the AMO conference in 2016 that had taken place at MPEI Smolensk branch, this year the presentation of a book about AMO was arranged. In this book each participant of Association told about the most successful projects for years of AMO existence.

Closing day of the conference took place at the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (TU Bergakademie Freiberg). Rector of Freiberg University of Mining and Technology made welcome speech and the presentation of the University.

Then the participants visited the International Department of the University and shared their experience of participation in the project "Erasmus +".

On behalf of the Technical University of Sofia AMO Vice-president O. Dukhlev proposed to hold the 23rd Conference in Sozopol (Bulgaria), the offer was supported unanimously by conferees.

Following the results of the Conference new representatives of the Russian Universities became AMO part and the final protocol was signed.
