Delegation from Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg visited MPEI

On the 7th of February, 2017 the delegation from Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), Germany visited MPEI. The delegation was headed by Dean of Department "Ecology and natural sciences", Prof. Dr. - Ing. Dr. h.c. Michael Schmidt. In frames of the meeting the negotiations concerning cooperation within grants of the German Academic Exchange Service took place. Also the prospects of two diplomas program between MPEI and BTU were discussed.



On the part of MPEI at the meeting there were Head of Department of Ph.D.-students and Trainees Savchenkova Natalia, Industrial Heat Engineering Systems Department chair Yavorovsky Y, associate professor of Industrial Heat Engineering Systems Department Zhigulin E., deputy chief of Department of International relations Gulicheva E. and engineer of Department of International relations Osipova M.

Then BTU representatives made the presentation of information, educational and methodical platform "ECO-Campus" for its possible use in educational process of MPEI on a gratuitous basis. This platform is actively used in a number of European Universities, including BTU.

All materials of this platform, including video records, were in English. In the first quarter of 2017 the platform will include Russian translation for the following ten courses:

  1. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
  2. Introduction to Strategic Environmental Assessment
  3. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
  4. Introduction to Responsible Mining
  5. Introduction to responsible mining / Tools (I): The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI)
  6. Introduction to responsible mining / Tools (II): Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
  7. VSS - Voluntary Standard Systems – Introduction
  8. VSS in Environmental Policy and Economics
  9. Third-Party Certification Process: Explanation of the certification and internal organization of certification bodies, based on GLOBALG.A.P.
  10. Forest Certification Schemes – FSC, PEFC and introduction to High Conservation Value (HCV)
