MPEI in the III Executive Committee of the University Alliance of the Silk Road

The III Executive Committee of the University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR) took place in Almaty at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Representatives of Xi'an Jiaotong University (China), Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute", Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, University of Liverpool (Great Britain), Banha University (Egypt), Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan), Sabanci University (Turkey), Kyrgyz State University of Construction participated in the meeting of the Executive Committee.

This year Head of Department of Ph.D.-students and Trainees Natalia Savchenkova acted as MPEI representative.

The event was opened by greeting made by Rector of Kazakh National University – Mr. Galimkair Mutanov. The action was aimed at joining efforts and adjustment of international relations between the universities in the fields of science, political and economic research, training and improvement of quality of education in the Alliance countries.

During the Executive Committee meeting a number of offers from the universities concerning the work processes in the sphere of scientific and cultural heritage, development of student's exchange, development of the Alliance infrastructure, exchange of experience in educational models in the higher education, improvement of quality of mutual informing about upcoming events were shown to the public. The realization of undertakings from Heads of Kazakhstan and China concerning allocation of a grant of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on supercomputer that costs more than 10 million dollars was also discussed. This computer has to become an important element of IT science and Technology Park as future platform of a digital format for cooperation in the field of education, science and technology.

Supporting the proposal of Rector of Kazakh National University, Vice-president of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the moderator of the Executive Committee meeting Angelina Jun emphasized that online courses and IT science and Technology Park are very relevant. Angelina Jun noted in her performance, that "In this regard we completely support Kazakh National University and we consider that all universities from the Alliance of the Silk Road have to take active part and develop the general steps for achievement of the goals and further mutually beneficial cooperation".

The event participants have got acquainted with infrastructure of Kazakh National University and they visited Science and technology park where there were presented the inventions in the field of renewable power engineering and elements of the Smart city system.

Then the Executive Committee continued its work at "Nazarbayev University" (Astana) where Vice-president of National University Kadisha Dairova made a greeting speech during the meeting, having emphasized the importance of interaction between the universities in various spheres. The discussion concerning cooperation and joint participation in education, science and business was arranged there.

University Alliance of the Silk Road was created in 2015. Today it unites 125 Universities representing 31 countries in foundation of the general platform for cooperation in the fields of education, development of dialogue of cultures and the people.
