The first Russian-Vietnamese Summer school was hold at MPEI

The 20th of August was the final day of the first Russian-Vietnamese Summer school that lasted for 3 weeks. The school was first to be organized, however MPEI-Vietnam collaboration has its history.

This year is a 65th anniversary of MPEI training professionals for Socialist Republic of Vietnam. During these years MPEI has prepared for Vietnam more than 500 Bachelors, Masters and specialists, 120 Philosophy Doctors and 10 Doctors of Science, provided stages for more than 150 Vietnamese trainees. In 1978 MPEI was given an Order of Friendship and in 2015 an Order of Labor of the first Degree. On the 14th of April, 2015, the Decree of the President of Socialistic Republic of Viet Nam was signed to award the group of professors of MPEI headed by the Rector with the Orders of Friendship for the considerable contribution in Power Engineering Human resources of Vietnam, strengthening and development of friendship and partnership of Vietnam and Russia. At present time 65 Vietnamese are studying at main programs and the preliminary course, as well as 12 Ph.D.-s.

In the framework of the Summer school, aside from studying Russian, schoolchildren from the Hoabinh High school named after Hoang Van Thu have got an opportunity to visit the departments of MPEI Institute of Electrical Power Engineering and took part in the studying at the Young Power Engineer School.

Vietnamese Summer school participants have visited the Lyceum №1502 of MPEI. The Director, V.L. Chudov presented the Lyceum and a number of laboratories. Visitors were told about the issues of the learning process and took the comparison of the educational systems of Russia and Viet Nam.

Despite the rich study program, scholars from Vietnam have had enough time to go sightseeing and attend the cultural program of the MPEI Department of international Relations.

Upon the completion of the course Vice-Rector on International Relations Alexander Tarasov presented the scholars with the educational certificates.

The Vietnamese scholars are expected to return to MPEI as the newly enrolled students!
