MPEI students attended Xi’an Summer school

Summer gives you a perfect opportunity for studying abroad. This year from the 9th till the 18th of July MPEI students took part in summer school of Xi’an Jiaotong University.

Xi’an Jiaotong University was founded in 1896 and now it is considered to be one of the best Universities in China.

At the opening ceremony the postgraduate of the Thermal Power Plants Department Vladimir Kindra made a report about MPEI to the Summer school students and administration.

Anastasia Stepanova shared her experiences:
After completing my first year of studies I got the opportunity to attend a summer school program at one of the best Chinese Universities - Xi’an Jiaotong University. The delegation of MPEI included 7 students. In frames of the program I got basic speaking skills in English and Chinese languages. Moreover the organizers prepared for us a fruitful cultural program and made us acquainted with a number of Chinese customs. We also were very impressed by the tours round main Xi’an and neighboring districts museums.

The main thing that helped us to be fully unleashed into Chinese local charm was accommodation at the dormitory. To save the space the showers were located on the balconies. Moreover there is a cantine on the territory of the University where students can have lunch for 13 yuan. Moreover there was a possibility to play ping-pong, swim in the University pool, visit a 24-hour library and learn English together with foreign students.

During the stage PhD-student Vladimir Kindra established contacts with the staff of the International department and professors of Machinery and Power Engineering Institutes. In the conversation about further partnership the Xi’an colleagues expressed their wish to collaborate furthermore with MPEI in the domains of scientific research projects.

All the personnel of Xi’an Jiaotong University have shown hospitality and friendliness towards the Summer scholars and guests.

We are expecting further collaboration between our two universities!
