MPEI Dushanbe branch office celebrates its 5th anniversary

From the 13th to the 18th September the delegation of MPEI headed by Rector of MPEI Nikolay D. Rogalev had been visiting Tadjikistan. It consisted of Vice-Rector in economics Galina Kurdiukova, Vice-Rector on international relations Alexander Tarasov and Head of the Dushanbe branch office Sagid Abdulkerimov.

MPEI Dushanbe branch office was opened in September 2013 by the decision of the Presidents of the Russian Federation and Tadjikistan. During the last 5 years the Dushanbe office has acquired a modern laboratory complex, equipment for computer and linguaphone classrooms, a multimedia video-conference system for remote education. A canteen, sports hall with simulators, a book library and a joint Dushanbe-Moscow electronic library have been created. The branch office is carrying out the scientific research. This year, it has been a host for the practical and theoretical conference "Introduction of innovational technologies for augmentation of the power engineering efficiency of Tajik infrastructure" dedicated to the 5th anniversary of MPEI Dushanbe branch office and 27th anniversary of Tadjikistan Independence.

The MPEI delegation got acquainted with the branch office activity and met the teaching staff: 34 professors, with 23 Ph.D. and 4 Sc.D. among them. Administration consists of 13 persons. Currently, 480 students are taking their Bachelor degree in Dushanbe office in the field of Electrical Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering, direction 13.03.02.

MPEI Rector awarded Honor, Memorable and Gratitude signs to the staff of the branch office.

MPEI Delegation visited Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Dushanbe, where the opinions on the development of educational programs in Tadjikistan have been discussed. The Head of Rossotrudnichestvo in Tajikistan Mikhail Vozhdaev mentioned the advanced level of education in the branch office.

The 17th of September was marked by solemn events dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the branch office. They were attended by: Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Azim Ibrokhim, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan Lyakin-Frolov IS, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of Tajikistan Vozhdaev M.V., Head of the Ismoili Somoni District, Dushanbe Samiev Sh. Kh., Director of the Group for the Implementation of Power Construction Projects under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Mukhiddiniyon PM, First Deputy Chairman of the Joint-Stock Company "Barki Tajik" Asozoda M Sh., Director Nur Ekskaya HPP Shoiddinov FT, rector of the Tajik Technical University. Osimi Odinazoda Kh.O., Rector of the Russian-Tajik (Slavonic) University Salikhov NN, Director of the Moscow State University branch in Dushanbe S. Mirzoev and representatives of the MISiS branch.

The participants underlined the importance and necessity of the branch work for training high-qualified personnel. The results of the 5-year branch activity confirm the right course taken.

Medals of National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" for Collaboration and Interaction have been awarded to Professors Vozhdaev, Samiev and Asozoda.

Solemn events were crowned by a festive concert


Representatives of MPEI met the Administration of Nurek Hydro-Powerplant and Alumni.

In frames of the Tadjikistan business trip the delegation members visited Tajik Technical University named after Osimi, where they were received by Haydar O. Odinazoda. MPEi representatives also visited laboratories and departments of the University and have discussed the issues of collaboration in the educational and scientific spheres. The visit of delegation stressed the importance of this MPEI high priority project.
