MPEI and BRICS YEA signed a memorandum of cooperation

BRICS Youth Energy Agency (BRICS YEA) and National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" entered into strategic partnership with each other in the development of joint research and educational projects in the field of power engineering in BRICS countries.

The worthwhileness of BRICS Youth Energy Agency developing at specialized Russian universities was noted during the sixth meeting of the working group to consider cooperation with the BRICS member states in the power engineering sector, chaired by A.Inyutsyn, the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation. In 2018, BRICS YEA and MPEI co-organized Moscow Summit of BRICS Youth Energy Agency under the International Forum on Energy Efficiency and Energy Development "Russian Energy Week 2018".

In frames of the signed memorandum, the parties determined to cooperate in the following areas:

• Implementation of youth projects in the field of power engineering for the comprehensive development of education and science in the BRICS countries;
• Broaden options to organize joint research of young scientists from the BRICS countries in the field of power engineering;
• Development and promotion of joint projects for the development of international youth energy cooperation;
• Participation and assistance in the implementation of projects of the BRICS Youth Energy Agency, etc.

BRICS Youth Energy Agency (BRICS YEA) (it was an association until 2018) is an international youth organization intended to ensure the cooperation of the BRICS countries in the field of power engineering among youth and to promote the development of the scientific and analytical opportunity of the community countries.

In 2018, with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, there took place the first BRICS Youth Energy Agency Summit under the International Energy Efficiency and Energy Development Forum “Russian Energy Week”. Summit is planned to be held annually. On the 17th -18th of May, 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa, under the South African Chairmanship in BRICS, there took place the third meeting of the Working Group on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency. According to the results BRICS YEA activity was highly esteemed.​​​
