Delegations of the International Hydropower Association and the Association "Russian Hydropower" at MPEI26.02.2019On the 15th of February, 2019, the British representatives of International Hydropower Association had a meeting with Russian organizations interested in cooperation, and professors of the only Russian Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Renewable Sources of Energy of MPEI. From the UK part the following guests were involved: Mr. Richard M. Taylor – Executive Director of the International Hydropower Association Mrs Kate Steel, project manager MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev took his part in the session, giving the foreword.From the MPEI part the delegation was welcomed by Vice-Rector on International Relations Alexander Tarasov, Head of International Administration Sergey Shirinskii, Head of the Hydropower Engineering and Renewable Sources of Energy Institute Tatyana Shestopalova and Head of the Department of International Relations Elena Gulicheva. From the part of the Association "Russian Hydropower" Oleg Lushnikov, executive director, and Anastasia Zhdanova, deputy executive Director and Head of the project office, were present. Both Russian and British sides have given presentations on the activities of the Association "Russian Hydropower" and "International Hydropower Association".The issues of collaboration and organization of bilateral work have been discussed. After that, the Head of the Hydropower Engineering and Renewable Sources of Energy Institute Tatyana Shestopalova led the guests on a site-seeing event through MPEI. International Hydropower Association is an industry branch organization, created in 1995 under the aegis of UNESCO, for global promotion of steady Hydropower development by means of policy and strategy of ameliorating the efficiency of Hydropower projects. IHA supports and spreads the vanguard knowledge and experience of Hydro Power Engineering worldwide. The organization is concerned by the role of Hydropower in satisfying the growing global demands in hydro-resources and pure renewable energy. IHA also realizes projects to create the instruments of complex evaluation and efficiency confirmation of hydropower projects, as well as estimating the effects of reservoirs on the environment, and generally the effects on climactic changes. IHA is an active partner of national and international governmental organizations, academic, science and financial institutes and societies. It pursues the goal of steady development of the hydropower sector, and presently IHA unites organizational and private partners from more than 80 countries. Association of organizations and employees in hydropower sphere "Hydropower of Russia" is the only one professional union of hydropower engineering companies in Russia in present. This association was founded in December 2003. Its mission is to aid the Hydropower engineering complex of the Russian Federation and to heighten the efficiency and reliability level of its work. We are expecting the development of mutually beneficial collaboration.
