Working visit of the representative of University of Applied Sciences Zwickau (Germany) at MPEI

On the 19th of March, 2019, Head of the international department of the University of Applied Sciences Zwickau Adriana Slavcheva paid a visit to MPEI, in frames of the goal of extending and bringing the collaboration between our Universities to a new level.

University of Applied Sciences Zwickau is a partner University of MPEI and a member of the Association of International Offices of Higher Education Institutions. The University has grown from the Engineering school for Automobile Technology created in 1897, to a famous Scientific and Research Centre. It is located in West Saxony, Germany, and its basic student campus is situated n Zwickau. The quantity of students of the University comprises 5000 people, 20% of them are foreign students. 50 programs for Bachelor, Specialist and Master studies oriented towards the applied sciences in the domain of Technology and Engineering, Business, Economy and Quality of life.

On behalf of MPEI the meeting was attended by the Vice-rector on international relations Alexander Tarasov, Head of the Department of International relations Elena Gulicheva, Head of the Centre of International academic programs Igor Zhelbakov, coordinator of the International academic programs Irina Kulik and lecturer of DAAD at MPEI Ms. Yvonn Klomke. The possibilities of cooperation in the domain of joint educational programs between our Universities were discussed. As well, preliminary agreements were concluded to launch academic mobility programs for the students with different types of scholarships, including Erasmus+, for short-term summer school and for educational and cultural exchange with the support from DAAD. The realization of academic exchange and stages for MPEI and Zwickau University teachers and staff were also talked over.

Moreover, the program of the visit embraced the meeting of the students with Adriana Slavcheva. Those who were interested in the possibility of participation in the international programs were informed of the participation opportunities for Academic mobility programs. Also in frames of the meeting, the presentation about the University of Applied Sciences Zwickau was shown.

In the course of the visit, an excursion for Adriana Slavcheva at the Hydropower and Renewable Sources of Energy Institute was set. Associate professor Alexey Vaskov spoke in details about the scientific and educational achievements of the Institute and showed the equipment of the laboratories. Then senior lecturer of the Electric Power Engineering Systems Artem Vanin and Ph.D. student Maxim Silaev told Adriana Slavcheva about the cooperation of the department and German Universities and organizations. Upon the conclusion the meeting with the Head of IEPE Vladimir Tulskiy was arranged, who told his German colleague about the “Etalon” project that is being realized, and of the summer Young Power Engineer campus.

Overall, the visit was quite successful and fruitful and will lead to a new turn in the development of the mutually beneficial cooperation between our Universities. ​​
