Russian language Olympiad for foreign students

On the 20th of March at the Grand Hall of MPEI the XIV Open Russian language MPEI Olympiad for foreign students of non-philological universities. More than 100 students from 45 countries and 9 Moscow Universities have shown their talents in reading poetry and song singing related within the common theme “It is time to go… Travelling through Russia”. This was the refrain of the Olympiad this year.

The Department of the Russian language of MPEI has implemented the preparation for the Olympiad in its courses. The teachers find the most talented students and take additional sessions with them, giving them room for perfecting the phonetic skills, studying the scenic poetry and song performance.

These courses extend the linguistic knowledge of foreign students, gives interest and respect towards Russian culture and its patrimony.

Creative approach of the teachers to the interpretation of poetry and songs opens broad field for improvisation in costume and scenic image of the performance.

We are especially delighted to receive different responses and esteems from the Olympiad participants and spectators because it gives the opportunity to analyze the work done, add the corrections and form future creative plans for the Olympiads to come.
