Interfestival – 2019

On the 5th of April at the Culture Center of MPEI the first stage of International Festival finished. It had been being held for 2 months.

MPEI has a tradition to hold the International Festival – a set of events created to contribute to the strengthening of the intercultural communication between students from Russia and other countries, mutual understanding among people of different nationalities and promotion of the Russian language and culture in the world.

Foreign Ph.D., Preliminary, Bachelor and Master students of MPEI took part in the festival events: spartakiad, exposition and concert. The spartakiad attracted many students, who had the opportunity to play ping-pong, badminton, chess, football, basketball and volleyball, and participate in lift&squat, push and pull-up contests.

On the 4th of April the exposition of national cultures of foreign students studying at MPEI took place at the ground of MPEI main bulding. The leading role was played by the International Council of MPEI and the International Administration. Guests were pleased to see vivid national costumes, ethnic music, games and competitions, and, for sure, African drums’ dancing.

The exposition was visited by the honoured guests from different countries: Mr. Rodrigo Ernesto Gomez Martinez, the Counselor at the Embassy of El Salvador in the Russian Federation; the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in the Russian Federation Mr. A.H. Mohamedali Idris; the second secretary of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in the Russian Federation, Mr. Haisam Arous; First Secretary for Education of the Embassy of Zambia in the Russian Federation, Ms. Mavis Mulenga, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Paraguay Hernan Munoz; Plenipotentiary Minister of the Embassy of Morocco in the Russian Federation Mr. M. El Bushehee.

At the meeting with the honored guests, Vice-Rector on International Relations Alexander Tarasov was speaking about the international activity of MPEI. Head of the International Administration Sergey Shirinskii discussed the ways of further collaboration and the Dean of the foreign students Alexander Ankin led the discussion about the foreign students’ education at MPEI.

For the representatives of the embassies Head of the IPEE Vladimir Tulskiy guided the tour round the Relay Protection and Electric Stations Department and showed the Digital Control Distribution Device.

The closing events of the first stage of Interfestival were being held at the Culture hall of MPEI. The final concert had been visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Mr. Ko Ko Shein with his spouse, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and other representatives of the Embassy, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic Mr. Firas Darwish.

At the solemn concert MPEI rector Nikolay Rogalev addressed towards the guests and performers with a greeting speech. The concert was opened by the MPEI chorus singing the MPEI anthem. At the final of the concert the prizewinners of the "XIV Olympiad in Russian language among the foreign students of non-philological universities" that had been set earlier this year, were honored. The ceremony of awarding study leaders, sportsmen, socially active foreign students was held as well.

The best items have been selected for the gala concert performed by international students of MPEI: Mongolian duo made a masterpiece with the song "Russian meadow", and a Togolese student – the song "On the long road". Myanmar, Vietnamese, Angolan, Paraguayan and Russian students danced, and Kyrgyz, Indian, Latin America and Kazakhstan sang in their native languages, and Chinese student delivered a bright illusion performance.

The events that were carried out have contributed to the strengthening of the intercultural communication between students from Russia and other countries, mutual understanding among people of different nationalities and promotion of Russian language and culture in the world.
