International Conference “70th anniversary of the Russian-Vietnamese cooperation in science and education”

On October 19 the International Conference dedicated to Interstate collaboration of Russian Federation and Socialist Republic of Vietnam was held. The 2020 year became significant for the partners: it has been the 75th anniversary since the proclamation of Independence of Vietnam and 70th - since the date of establishment of diplomatic relationship between Russia and Vietnam.

The conference gathered several educational and social institutes: the MPEI partner Vietnamese State University, the Russkiy Mir foundation, the Russian Embassy in Vietnam, Far Eastern Federal University, National Research University “Moscow Aviation Institute” and others.

The Conference is the scientific ground to strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and Russia and cooperation between VSU and partner Universities in the field of science and education, as well as to develop the collaboration ties between Russian and Vietnamese scientists. The conference also contributes to the development of academic mobility and to overall cooperation in the field of education and science, academic exchange of scientists, students, teaching staff etc. between Vietnam and Russia.

MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev greeted the members of the conference and congratulated them with the anniversary crossroads, expressing hope to continue the collaboration in non-remote format when the pandemic ends.

Vice-Rector on International Relations Alexander Tarasov, Head of the International Administration Sergey Shirinskii and Head of the Department of International Relations Elena Gulicheva shared their experience of MPEI cooperation with universities and organizations of Vietnam.

MPEI started the international cooperation with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 1953 when the first Vietnamese students were enrolled. Since that time, MPEI has formed more than 600 specialists, 120 Philosophy Doctors and 10 Doctors of Science. Presently, two Vietnamese lecturers work at MPEI.

Our University was given the Order of Friendship in 1978 and the Order of Labour of the 1st Degree in 2015. Among the prominent MPEI Vietnamese Alumni there are the Rector of the Ho Chi Minh Technological University Ho Dac Loc, the Head President of VINATOM Tran Chi Thanh and many others.​​
