MPEI enters 10 best Russian IT Universities listed by Times Higher Education

MPEI has entered 10 top Russian Universities in the field of Computer Science of Times Higher Education rating. This international universities’ British ranking agency specializes in monitoring actual issues of higher education and is a leader in the domain of the evaluation of the universities’ activities’ quality.

Apart from entering the main general ranking named THE World University Rankings 2022, MPEI has been listed with the best universities in three subject ratings of THE: in Computer Science, Engineering and Physical Sciences.

MPEI has claimed the 9th place in the subject ranking THE «Computer Science» among Russian universities and has strengthened its position in the world one, reaching the 501-600 group from the 601-800 part. In this ranking our University has reached the maximum score (100) in the industry income qualifier. In THE rating only six universities in the world, including MPEI, have reached this grade. The industry income indicator evaluates the income of the university from the research demanded by the industrial enterprises, rationed by a teaching staff member.

In THE «Engineering» MPEI has taken a position in the 801-1001 group and the 25th place among Russian Universities. Moreover, the University has improved all the qualifiers compared to the previous year and in particular the industry income qualifier, from 45,7 to 70,2.

In the list of leading world Universities in THE “Physical sciences” MPEI has claimed the 23rd place among the Russian Universities and resides in the 801-1000 group.

The Times Higher Education UK ranking agency is among the triple of the most influential global university ranking organizations. The agency has been evaluating universities around the world for over 10 years. Among the main criteria for subject rankings are the reputation of the university in the academic community, the publication activity of employees, the quality of education, links with the industry, and others. To compose the rating, the researchers analyzed more than 100 million links to more than 14 million scientific papers, taking into account the data of a global survey of 22,000 scientists. In total, the ranking includes 1662 universities in the world (in the previous edition - 1527 universities).
