MPEI took part in the Fifth ASRTU Summit 2022

From June 1 to 3, 2022, MPEI took part in the Fifth Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities Summit (ASRTU), which was held online at the Xi'an Jiaotong University.

Currently, the Association includes 74 universities in Russia and China whose representatives took part in the Summit.

The solemn ceremony was opened with a welcoming speech by Cao Shihai, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation; Victor Romanekov, Head of the Department of Bilateral Cooperation with Foreign Countries of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation; Tian Lulu, Deputy Secretary General of the China Scholarship Council; Liu Jianqing, Head of the Eurasian Department of the International Department of the Ministry of Education of the PRC; Wang Shuguo, rector of Xi'an Jiaotong University; Mikhail Gordin, permanent chairman of ASRTU from the Russian side, rector of The Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

It was noted that in the past 10 years since its foundation ASRTIt was noted that in the past 10 years since its foundation ASRTU has become a recognized platform for the development of scientific-educational and humanitarian cooperation between universities of Russia and China opening new models of cooperation in such key areas as aviation and cosmonautics, information technology, new materials and technologies, robotics, renewable energy, the environment, polar research and many other fields.

MPEI was represented by Irina Kulik, ASRTU-MPEI coordinator, director of the SEC "Development of partnership in the field of ICT". In her speech she reported on the successful long-term development of cooperation between the Russian university and Chinese universities, which continues to expand on a mutually beneficial basis even in the current period, both due to the emergence of new MPEI partners among Chinese universities and the intensification of joint activities with already existing partners. Among the key areas of cooperation there were noted such joint educational programs as double-degree programs, summer schools, a variety of academic mobility programs for students and teachers and the possibility of studying in English in certain areas of basic educational programs.

Special attention was paid to the activation of activities on joint scientific projects, a fresh confirmation of which was the participation of 6 scientific groups of MPEI in the competition for grants from the RSF for the event "Conducting fundamental scientific research and exploratory scientific research by international research teams" together with the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In May 2022, applications were submitted for the competition from the departments of IITCS (CT, AMAI together with CMSN), ITNPE (GPNF, LT), IEEHT (IHPES, CEE) in partnership with Chinese universities: Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, China University of Mining and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

In conclusion, the hope was expressed for continued productive cooperation with Chinese universities, both within the framework of ASRTU and at all available platforms.
