MPEI Rector gave a presentation at the 60th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council

On July 14, 2022, the MPEI delegation headed by Rector Nikolay Rogalev took part in the 60th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council to discuss topical issues of sectoral interstate cooperation in the city of Nur -Sultan.

During the thematic discussion of the report part of the meeting, important issues of energy security, the development of the electric power industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the sphere of digital industry transformation, renewable energy and low-carbon power industry as a contribution to the sustainable development of the CIS were touched upon.

The meeting was attended by Zhandos Nurmaganbetov, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan who noted the importance of developing the activities of the professional electric power community of the CIS states and strengthening the development potential of the electric power industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Pavel Snikkars, Chairman of the Coordinating Council under the CIS Electricity Council, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation , highlighted a number of relevant regulatory documents regulating EPC CIS activities, touching upon proposals for the development of a Plan of Priority Actions for 2022-2030 to implement the Cooperation Concept of the CIS Member States in the field of the renewable sources energy use and implementation issues of the List of Joint Responses to Emerging Problems.

MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev spoke about the optimization of innovative development in the electric power industry on the example of the implementation of the Scientific and Expert Community at the CIS EES, the main goal of which is to provide expert assistance to the CIS EES in the formation of a science-based policy and ensure an integrated approach to the development of industry cooperation between states - members of the CIS. The draft decision on the procedure for implementing the initiative was unanimously approved by the meeting participants.

“Interstate exchange of experience in the development and implementation of technological solutions is a key function of the NES as an advisory body within the CIS Electric Power Council. The formation of the structure of the NES activity is based on the fundamental experience and effective model of the functioning of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Unified Energy System, which has been implementing its activities for many years. Having an international current composition of experts in a wide range of areas influential in each CIS state, the NES will be an impressive contribution to optimizing the activities of the CIS Electric Power Council, which will significantly reduce a number of resource, time, material and functional costs in the implementation of key decisions in the field of electric power progress in the CIS " , - said Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI rector.

The meeting was attended by heads of regulatory authorities and representatives of the industry from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Belarus, as well as representatives of leading companies in the field of energy and electric power industry of the Russian Federation and the CIS countries, such as Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC), JSC "SO UES", PJSC " Inter RAO", PJSC " RusHydro ", JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom" and others.

The participants of the meeting held a number of business meetings and discussed working issues, and also visited one of the leading organizations in the electric power industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) congratulating the management and staff of the enterprise on the 25th anniversary. The cultural program of the meeting ended with a meaningful excursion to the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

MPEI is approved by the basic organization of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the training, professional retraining and advanced training of personnel in the field of electric power industry (decision of the CIS Council of Heads of Government dated October 30, 2015).
