MPEI takes part in XIII session of scientific, technical and innovational cooperation Board of BRICS

11 November, 2022, MPEI representatives at Renewable Energy Workgroup of  BRICS, Tatyana Shestopalova, Head of Department of Hydropower and Renewable Energy Sources (HRES), and Evgeny Ignatiev, Senior Lecturer of HRES, took part at the XIII session of the scientific, technical and innovational cooperation Board of BRICS. The meeting was carried out in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.

At the event, there were discussed the results of Russia's participation in BRICS under the Chinese Chairmanship in 2022, tasks for 2023-2024, the activities of the BRICS STI Steering Committee in 2022 and tasks for 2023-2024, and also initiatives of federal executive authorities in the framework of cooperation with the BRICS countries, the results of the fifth competition of research projects for the BRICS STI Framework Program, as well as some other issues.

Tatyana Shestopalova, Head of the BRICS Workgroup on Renewable Energy Sources, reported on the activities of the Workgroup and made some proposals for the development of key STI initiatives within the BRICS framework for 2023, including the ones focused on the upcoming Russian Federation BRICS Chairmanship in 2024. The proposals concerned the improving coordination between national working groups and the agreements on the deadlines for submitting contest applications of research projects of the BRICS STI Framework Program.

MPEI employees have been actively involved in the activities of the BRICS working group on RES since its foundation in 2018. October 14-15, 2020, MPEI hosted the second meeting of the BRICS Working Group on New and Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency, which was attended by a considerable number of renewable energy specialists from the BRICS member countries.
