MPEI is building a new energy university in China

"We pay great attention and actively support MPEI's efforts to establish an independent study program in Hainan," Feng Fei said. - "MPEI in partnership with the administration of the free economic zone and Hainan Province (PRC) has begun the construction of a new energy university in China – MPEI-Hainan University.

I hope that your institute will make an innovative breakthrough in education based on its advantages and the needs associated with the formation of the Hainan free trade port and its sectoral development”. According to the governor, the provincial authorities are ready to cooperate with MPEI across all issues on the project. He expressed the hope that the study program will be able to demonstrate the high level of the Russian institute at the international level.

The Hainan Provincial Department of Education also had a meeting with Liu Chong, Director of Wenchang International Space City Administration Bureau. During the meeting, it was clarified that the main campus of MPEI-Hainan University will be located in Wenchang while the graduate and postgraduate campus will be located in the provincial capital Haikou.

The work on the creation of the new university is carried out jointly with the international corporation "Eurasia" with the direct participation of Feng Yaou, President of the corporation. This is the largest educational project for China in the Hainan Free Trade Zone.

The joint project of MPEI and Hainan Province began in 2021. Already in the middle of 2022 the Chinese side has prepared serious plans to organize training of future power engineers of China. According to the developed program, more than 15 thousand young specialists will be trained at the new university by 2030. MPEI is the academic partner, scientific and methodological supervisor of this project.

"The first Chinese students came to MPEI in 1948. Among them was the future Premier of the State Council of China Li Peng. Over 75 years, MPEI has trained a large number of outstanding specialists, including 15 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences who largely determined the development of many branches of the national economy of China. I believe we will continue to work together successfully for the benefit of the Russian and Chinese economies”.​
