MPEI strengthens its role in the Russian‑Malaysian educational dialogue

On August 13, 2026, the 5th meeting of the Joint Russian-Malaysian Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation is taking place in Vladivostok, at the Far Eastern Federal University campus.

The Russian side was represented by Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The Malaysian side was represented by Zambry Abdul Kadir, Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia. MPEI delegation included Nikolay Rogalev, Rector and Elena Gulicheva, Director on International Relations.

During the plenary session, participants discussed key areas for bilateral cooperation in higher education, science and technology.

The main outcome is the signing of two strategic documents with leading Malaysian universities:

- Roadmap for Joint Activities with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)

- Memorandum of Understanding with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

These documents unlock new opportunities to launch academic mobility programs and joint research projects.

“Signing these agreements is an important step in developing our partnership with Malaysia. We see great potential in joint educational and research projects. They will open new horizons for MPEI students and staff members, as well as reinforce the university’s position as a reliable international partner”, Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector said.
