Embassy of the Republic of Cuba visits MPEI

29 December, 2022 representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Russia, represented by Gustavo Jose Cobreiro Suarez, Advisor for Education and Science visited MPEI to sum up the results of the outgoing year. Another working meeting with students and staff of the university was led by Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI rector with the participation of Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Anastasia Mashkova, Director on Development of Integration Policy.

The parties discussed progress in organizing the project for the opening of the Center for Targeted Training of MPEI in Havana on the basis of the Center for continuing education of the Energy Union of Cuba, the creation of which was initiated at the XIII International Congress of Higher Education "University 2022" by Ramiro Valdes, Commander of the Republic of Cuba.

Recently arrived Cuban students of MPEI who have been enrolled this year, met personally with the coordinator of the educational direction and asked a number of interesting questions and shared new impressions of their staying in Russia. In 2023 another 8 Cuban specialists will start their studies in the internship programs. Also at the meeting there were raised important questions of coordination of subsidizing procedure for students from Cuba, which is organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in order to fully support the Russian-Cuban relations.

At present 27 leading specialists and managers of Cuban power industry are studying in MPEI within the framework of educational cooperation between MPEI and Energy Union of Cuba in the field of electrical and thermal power, power engineering and informatics.​
