The participants discussed formats for cooperation in higher education, science, technology, as well as mutual promotion of Russian and Malay languages learning in the two countries. Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Airat Gatiyatov noted that the Russian Ministry of Education and Science pays special attention to the issue of joint training of personnel who will be involved in the development of economic and scientific-technical cooperation between the two countries. According to him, subsequent employment plays an important role in this issue. During the meeting, Malaysian colleagues were invited to participate in the Russian Ministry of Education and Science's initiative in the field of Oriental and African studies. A new comprehensive program for the development of education and research is being developed jointly with the Centers for Asian and African Studies. It envisages mandatory internships for students, teachers and scientists, as well as solving not only theoretical but also applied problems in Asian and African countries. At the same time, the Malaysian partners proposed to create a Joint Russian-Malaysian Center for Research, Science and Culture on the University of Malaya basis. The launch of such a project will make it possible to strengthen existing and create new research and educational partnerships. Such a center could become a base for teaching Russian to Malaysian citizens and Malay to Russians. During the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to cooperate in the field of fundamental research in areas of mutual interest. Scientific organizations and universities were recommended to join efforts to coordinate activities within joint scientific and technological research programs to work out directions and specific projects. In addition, the participants agreed to consider the possibility of holding a joint Russian-Malaysian scientific research competition focused on a wide range of promising fields. As a reminder, on November 9, 2023, in Kuala Lumpur the second meeting of the Joint Russian-Malaysian Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation was held.
