Every year dozens of MPEI students leave the University for training to Germany, Finland and other countries. Someone prepares for training abroad since the matriculation and someone decides to get experience of training in other country during last years. We have prepared opinions of some MPEI students who are trained abroad.

MPEI students Lashkov Ilya and Lyapunov Nikolay have won Georgius-Agricola-Scholarship for training in Technische Universität Dresden. Being in Germany now, guys have shared impressions with us:

Ilya Lashkov: "The grant has helped to see, what our colleagues from other countries doing. We have got with students and professors from the different world countries. Each of them has an interesting story how they have arrived to Germany. Communication with students and professors of other countries has helped to learn a lot of new and interesting things not only in the scientific environment, but also in ordinary life. The collective is very friendly, Russia is greatly respected and they treat Russians with interest. Every weekend according to exchange programs there are organized various events for students where they get with each other and learn a lot of new things".

Nikolay Lyapunov: "During the classes we repeated the studied material more, than have learned new one. Nevertheless it is interesting, since there is another working language. It is pleasant that during the practical courses (it has turned out to take two practical courses) we are allowed to the equipment and to work by hands. Almost boundless opportunities in respect of performance of scientific work are also open. The professors kindly treat the interested students.

In Dresden it is considered that teaching level in MPEI doesn't concede to the European one. Several professors are natives of Russia, and we have been pleasantly surprised by that. Though, actually, both professors and students from Russia are almost prevailing majority. We meet also enormous number of fellow citizens in the streets of the city. Especially, the fact that in the museums the most part of visitors is our guys. By the way we had bought the annual museum subscriptions so we have been  simply obliged to visit them all having desire or not.

We shouldn't even think about job (or day-to-day job) as the grant is enough for everything. Especially, if we spend money smartly. The most part is for the hostel payment, the insurance and food that isn't much expensive, than in Russian shops even at such currency rates.

The hostel is of corridor-type. Surprisingly it is the cheapest and the closest one to the University (no more than five minutes at full lick). It is located behind the building of the Institute Library. There is a huge and multistoried library. The interior is so beautiful. Everything is good, but there is the only one defect – books can't almost be taken (or books already on hands, or it is possible to read the single copy only in the library).

A few remarks about student's life. If desired it is possible to spend every evening in the company of the international students. Especially to see the students on exchange because they have arrived for one semester and they try to make everything in time and they don't stay at home. Every weekend organizers of student's life perform the barbecue party, every week – thematic parties concerning a certain country. Also we try to play in soccer every week with guys and at the weekend we leave for the region at the excursions.

Some special words about traveling. We can take commuter trains for free within Saxony by student ID card.

At the hostel the Internet is much cheaper, but there are some traffic restrictions. But we didn’t notice it. We have to pay huge money for phone. For one month you can pay much money than for the whole year in Russia. But there's no choice.
