Cooperation between MPEI and the Dominican Republic dates back to 1975, when the first students were enrolled to MPEI. Presently, 17 graduates from the Dominican Republic have finished their study at MPEI. 

Many times MPEI professors visit universities in the Dominican Republic (Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) and Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC)) to give lectures to students and professors. 

The staff of the Department of heat and mass transfer processes and installations​: Prof. Andrey Garyaev, Head of the Department, Natalia Savchenkova, Associate Professor were awarded the title “Titular Honorario Investigador” and Inna Samson, Associate Professor, was awarded the title "Titular Investigator" of the Dominican Republic. 

Inna Samson, a graduate of the Department of heat and mass transfer processes and installations, is an INTEC professor and was elected President of the Dominican Physical Society (La Sociedad Dominicana de Física - SoDoFi). Her work is highly appreciated within drawing attention to the development of physics in the Dominican Republic and to the expansion of international interaction in physics. 

MPEI professors are regular participants in SoDoFi events, including the International Congress. MPEI organizes summer schools together with SoDoFi and INTEC.
