In Soviet times, MPEI was actively collaborating with higher educational institutions of Poland in the field of educational, methodological and scientific work, and was training highly qualified specialists for the Polish economy as well. Due to this academic activity, in 1987 MPEI was awarded the Order of Merit of the Polish Republic.

Presently MPEI has a number of Universities-partners in Poland.

Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST)

The cooperation agreement was signed in 1993. Educational, methodical and scientific work has been carried out by the Department of Steam and Gas Turbines and the Department of Electromechanics, Electrical and Electronic Apparatuses. In the framework of the agreement the work is carried out in the following directions: raising the teachers’ qualification, participation in the science and education conferences​, joint publishing, academic exchange in practice and internship.  Since 2013 students of MPEI has annually participated in Summer Schools "Energy+Electronics+Electricity" organized by WUST.

MPEI and WUST have signed the protocol of scientific ties development and starting of the Double-Degree program, and the agreement of short-term academic mobility in frames of Erasmus program has been concluded as well.

Partners also cooperate in the field of activity of Association of International Departments of educational institutions (AMO).

In 2014, the rector of Wroclaw University of Technology T. Węckowski was awarded the title “Honorary Doctor of MPEI”. Rector of MPEI Nikolay Rogalev is a permanent member of the program committee of the annual international scientific and technical conference DepCos-RELCOMEX, organized by Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. In 2015, Nikolay Rogalev was awarded the title "Honorary Professor of WUST".

2. Wroclaw University of Economics

The contract was signed in 2011. There are annual exchanges of groups of students and teaching staff for an internship, which as well include a cultural program.

3. Warsaw University of Technology

The cooperation agreement was signed in 2004. It has involved the Department of Electric Power Supply of Industrial Enterprises and Electrotechnologies and the Department of Steam and Gas Turbines.

4. Higher School of Finance and Management in Bialystok

The agreement was signed in 2011. In its framework the academic exchange, joint conferences and teachers retraining have been carried out. The Double-Degree program is also thoroughly considered.
