The cooperation of MPEI with Syrian universities and organizations began
in 1964, when the first students were accepted for education. MPEI has trained
a large number of highly qualified personnel for different countries, among
them there are more than 70 Syrian graduates.
In 2020, 6
students and 8 postgraduates from the Syrian Arab Republic are studying at MPEI.
MPEI collaborates
with Al-Manar University and Tishrin University.
MPEI employees participate in events held at
universities in Syria. In 2019, MPEI took part in the project “Russia - New
Opportunities for Higher Education” in the Middle East. The opening of the
exhibition took place in Syria, at Damascus University. In their turn,
representatives of Damascus University visited MPEI to discuss cooperation
issues. Among the guests of honor there was a MPEI
graduate, a Syrian citizen, Omar Vared.
In the 2020/21 academic year 2 lecturers from Syria are working at MPEI.
In 2020 on the base of private school “Al-Assiyeh” in Damascus in the
framework of Federal project “Education Export” MPEI created a resource center
of Russian Education. In December 2020 the lecturers of MPEI conducted lessons
in Physics for students of 9-11 (12) years of mentioned school in Arabic.
