During the USSR, there were close scientific ties
between MPEI, universities and organizations of Uzbekistan. Many MPEI graduates
have worked in various fields of the national economy of Uzbekistan.

At the present stage, the active cooperation of the
MPEI with the Republic of Uzbekistan resumed in 2017.
On May 16th, 2018 the roadmap was signed in
the field of scientific research activities and development of cooperation
between MPEI, Tashkent State Technical University named after I.Karimov (TSTU) and
Djizakh Polytechnic Institute (DjizPI).
On October 9th, 2018, during the visit of
Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Republic of Uzbekistan, a decision was
made to establish MPEI branch in Tashkent. On the same day, a trilateral
agreement was signed between the MPEI, Ministry of Higher and Secondary
Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and JSC “Uzbekenergo” on the
establishment of MPEI branch in Tashkent. Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, Inomjon
Majidov, Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of
Uzbekistan, Ulugbek Mustafoev, Chairman of the Board of
Uzbekenergo JSC signed this agreement. A draft Roadmap has been prepared for
the creation and development of MPEI branch in Tashkent for the period up to
September 1st, 2023, and an agreement has been reached on improving
the skills of teachers of TSTU on MPEI basis.
The cooperation of MPEI with TSTU is developing
dynamically. TSTU was founded in 1920. Currently, TSTU is one of the largest
technical universities in Central Asia in the fields of aviation, geology,
mechanical engineering, energy, electrical engineering and automation. In 2018,
MPEI and TSTU agreements were signed on a joint network bachelor's degree
program in the following areas: "Electric Power Engineering and electrical
Engineering", "Thermal Power Engineering and Thermal
Engineering", "Nuclear Power Engineering and Thermophysics". An
agreement was reached on the development of cooperation in the implementation
of joint educational programs (hereinafter – JEP) for the preparation of
bachelors in the "2+2" format, masters in the "1+1" format,
and the training of Ph.D.-students at MPEI.
JEP in the direction of "Radio engineering and
electronics" is successfully developing between MPEI and DjizPI. In 2018, preparatory courses were
opened in DjizPI to prepare applicants for admission to the JEP.
It is planned to continue and expand cooperation on
exchange programs in the field of scientific research.
