International Association of Universities (IAU) is a worldwide association founded in 1950 with the support of UNESCO. The association includes universities and organizations from more than 120 countries. The association also cooperates with other international, national and regional bodies that are also involved in the field of education.

IAU Activities

The International Association of Universities is the largest forum of this type, where the achievements, problems and prospects of higher education, as well as the exchange of professional experience, are regularly examined. The Association's activity is based on the fundamental right of every individual to receive education and consists of regular thematic conferences and symposia, research on issues related to problems and trends in higher education, and cooperation with international organizations.

IAU Objectives:

- protection of common cultural values and legal principles in higher education;

- creation of a flexible legal framework regulating relations between educational institutions around the world;

- representation and protection of the interests of universities on the world stage;

- development of the principle of freedom and justice, human dignity and solidarity through educational activities;

- advancement of science;

- contribution through international cooperation to the improvement of higher education in general.

IAU Membership and its Advantages

MPEI has been an official member of the International Association of Universities for a long time

Besides MPEI, IAU members are such Russian universities as RUDN, Saint Petersburg State University, Moscow State Linguistic University, Southern Federal University, Samara State University of Economics, etc. (23 Russian universities in total)
