The Department of Design at MPEI was founded in 1995.

Summary

It is a structural division of the Humanities and applied Institute and has been existing for more than twenty years.

Preparation is conducted in the direction of

Design 54.03.01 (bachelor's degree, 4 years; qualification – bachelor) and implemented by profiles:

Graphic design,

Product design,

Interior design,

Media design.

Department of Design teachers are members of various creative unions: The Russian Union of designers, the International Association "Union of designers", architects' Union, Union of artists of Russia, Creative Union of artists of Russia and participants in various Moscow and International exhibitions and competitions. They have diplomas and awards. In addition to full-time teachers, teachers from leading universities in Moscow and qualified specialists working in the field of design and related fields are involved in the work, providing a comprehensive and in-depth study of both theoretical and practical issues.

Students acquire practical skills in specialized workshops. Computer studios with modern equipment and software are actively used in the educational process.

In the course of training, students regularly participate in exhibitions and competitions, were awarded diplomas of winners and laureates, and also form a portfolio that allows them to demonstrate a wide range of professional skills to the employer.

Special disciplines in combination with a block of academic subjects form a professional Foundation for the future designer and allow him to be in demand in the market of design services.

Department of design graduates work in design firms, design studios, photo studios, in various organizations as full-time designers, in publishing houses, in editorial offices, on television, on the Internet, in architectural organizations. In addition, graduates can conduct independent activities of the designer.
