Features

The Department teaches students in the field of "Heat and Power Engineering" (code 140100) and prepares Bachelors in the profile "Autonomous Energy Systems", Masters in the training program "Autonomous Energy Systems. Hydrogen and electrochemical energetics”.

Autonomous systems find the widest application from electric and heat supply of an individual house or cottage, to energy supply of remote oil and gas facilities, military facilities, weather stations, etc. Autonomous systems solve the problem of power supply to aircraft, fleets, vehicles, portable equipment, mobile phones, laptops and etc.

The department specializes in hydrogen and electrochemical energy systems, including fuel cells, water electrolyzers, various types of batteries, including lithium-ion ones. Autonomous combined installations are developed on the basis of hydrogen and electrochemical energy systems. These systems work in conjunction with diesel generators, gas turbines or with renewable sources of wind energy generators, solar panels.

At the department using mathematical modeling, optimization and selection of the most energy-efficient modes of operation of autonomous systems is carried out. Their technical and economic analysis is carried out with the aim of introducing developments into industry.
