The Department was founded in 1932

Summary

Since 1932, the Department of Lighting Engineering has continually produced lighting engineers and designers. The Department provides knowledge and skills in lighting science including lighting principles, photometry, lighting engineering and design. The graduates of the Department are engaged in the development and design of light sources, lighting fixtures and lighting systems that are used in all areas of our life, including lighting installations for plants and medical purposes. Modern laboratories of the department make it possible for students to get acquainted with the most modern methods of design and research in the field of lighting engineering.

Research areas

  • the development of criteria for the optimality of lighting conditions in terms of creating a high-quality light environment,
  • mathematical and computer modeling of various light sources and lighting systems,
  • issues of mathematical modeling of the reaction of a human eye organ, which are created by various image imaging systems

Features

The students obtain skills of lighting design and engineering, engaging with real lighting projects. They can bring together the technical and creative sides of lighting design.

Unique equipment

The LabSpion goniometer is a complete light measurement system.

A spectrophotometer for precisely measurements of electromagnetic energy at specific wavelengths of lights.

A monochromator for light spectrum measurements.

Different Lighting control systems.
