Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey visited MPEI02.05.2024On April 25, 2024, Tanju Bilgiç, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey Tanju Bilgic paid an official visit to MPEI. Mr. Ambassador met with Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, to discuss the issues of cooperation between MPEI and Turkish universities, as well as the perspective development of the educational program for training personnel for the Akkuyu nuclear power plant located in Mersin. The delegation included Altyn Alper, First Secretary of the Embassy, and Mrs. Ozlem Ozzadeh, representative of the Education Department. On MPEI side, the delegation was welcomed by Sultan Makoev, Director on International Education and Elena Gulicheva, Director on International Relations. After the meeting with MPEI Rector, the delegation, together with Hussein Chechenov, Director on Educational Programs and Perspective Projects of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC and Vahabov Mazahir Sattar oglu, Supervisor for work with students, held a meeting with Turkish students. During the meeting, the students shared their impressions of studying at MPEI and staying in Moscow. Presently, 26 students from Turkey are studying at the University under master's degree programs in three profiles: automated control systems of thermal and nuclear power plants, water and fuel treatment technologies in power engineering, electric drive and automation. In 2024, MPEI has agreed to enroll 47 students who will be employees of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Mersin upon completion of their master's degree programs. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their confidence in further cooperation of MPEI with Turkish organizations and universities. Reference: Since 2023, MPEI under the agreement with SC “Rosatom” has been taking part in the project on personnel training for the Akkuyu nuclear power plant under construction in Mersin. A number of educational programs are required to train personnel for the nuclear industry. MPEI professors, being competent in their power engineering fields, are willing to impart knowledge to Turkish students who are sent to MPEI for training in the required specialties.
