Vietnamese schoolchildren choose MPEI

On June 17, 2024, the Russian-Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities (RVCTU), which is chaired by MPEI as a Russian side, held an online meeting with Vietnamese students of the Thai Nguyen Special School and the Special School of Foreign Languages at Hanoi State University, studying Russian language within the humanitarian project "Russian teacher abroad". The project is implemented by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation together with the national ministries of education of the partner countries. The project operator on the Russian side is the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution "Center for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation".

All participants of the group are winners of national and international Olympiads, have the best results in mastering national general education programs and apply for admission to Russian universities.

The event was organized by the Directorate on Integration Policy Development. Besides MPEI, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), which is a co-founder of RVKTU.

During the online meeting, schoolchildren from Vietnam familiarized themselves with general information about the universities and the Consortium's activities, learned about the advantages and opportunities of studying at MPEI and MAI, as well as the 2024 admission campaign, and were able to communicate with MPEI Vietnamese students who talked about their personal experience of studying, conducting scientific research, and participating in the social and sports life of the country's first power engineering university.

As a result of the event, many students from Vietnam expressed their willingness to enroll in RVCTU universities, as well as to join the program of the career guidance project "MPEI Summer School on RES technologies and innovations", which will be held in August 2024 in Hanoi with the support of the Consortium's academic partner in Vietnam - Hanoi State University with the participation of MAI and Saint-Petersburg Electrotechnical University ETU “LETI” named after V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin).

MPEI has been cooperating with educational and industrial enterprises of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam since 1953, when the first Vietnamese students entered our university.

At present, MPEI is the Chairman of the Russian-Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities, the agreement on the establishment of which was signed in December 2023 at the fourth meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese Commission for Cooperation in Education, Science and Technology. The Russian side, besides MPEI, is represented by the Moscow Aviation Institute. The Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the Hanoi State University are independent partners.

The project is implemented in cooperation with industrial organizations from both countries. Currently, the main industrial partner of the Consortium is the Vietnamese company EVN, 20 employees of which are undergoing professional training at MPEI in autumn this year.
