Delegation from Lanzhou University of Technology visited MPEI

On July 25, 2024, a delegation from Lanzhou University of Technology (LUT) headed by Ji Hong, Vice-Rector, visited MPEI.

On MPEI side, Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations, Sergey Shirinskii, Head of International Administration and Elena Gulicheva, Director on International Relations, attended the meeting.

LUT is a science and technology university having a long history. The university is located in Lanzhou city, the capital of Gansu Province that was an important destination point on the Silk Road.

As part of the visit, there took place an introductory tour around MPEI. The delegation members visited the Department of Hydropower and Renewable Energy, the center for National Technological Initiative ‘Technologies for Transportation of Electricity and Distributed Intelligent Energy Systems’, and the Department of Metals Technology. A meeting with MPEI administration was also held to discuss cooperation issues.

MPEI has been cooperating with Lanzhou University of Technology for many years. MPEI has been repeatedly visited by groups of students from Lanzhou for summer practice in Russian. Also a number of LUT students studied under MPEI master's program within the joint programs of the SCO University.

Following the visit, the parties signed an updated Cooperation Agreement, agreed to intensify contacts within the SCO University, to develop international academic mobility, including through the participation of students from both universities in summer schools.
