MPEI Rector has headed the Presidium of the Russian-Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities

On August 6th, 2024, a virtual meeting of the first general assembly of the Russian-Vietnamese consortium of technical universities was held at MPEI. The meeting was attended by representatives from the founding members of the consortium: the National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute", the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). Additionally, representatives from the Russian Embassy in Vietnam and Rossotrudnichestvo attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the participants approved the establishment of a Consortium Presidium. MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev chaired the Consortium Presidium. The presidium was co-chaired by the Rector of Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), Mikhail Poghosyan, and the president of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Huynh Quyet Thang. Authorized representatives of the presidium and the Secretariat of the consortium have been appointed, and a list of Russian universities eligible for membership in the consortium has been agreed upon for future consideration during the upcoming fifth meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese commission for cooperation in education, science, and technology.

Yevgeny Mitrofanov, Advisor to the Russian Embassy in Vietnam and Vladimir Murashkin, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Vietnam, delivered welcoming speeches, emphasizing the significance of establishing and developing a consortium to enhance Russian-Vietnamese collaboration in the fields of education, science, and technology. The meeting finished with a ceremony for the approval and signature of the regulations governing the operation of the Russian-Vietnamese consortium of technical universities.

“The establishment of the Russian-Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities marks a significant milestone in the advancement of international collaboration in the fields of education and scientific research. The Consortium has already demonstrated its effectiveness in fostering new opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaborative research endeavors, and the implementation of joint educational programs. The Consortium aims to facilitate a wide array of projects designed to enhance the scientific and technological capabilities of both nations and to further strengthen bilateral relations,” remarked Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute.” 

The participants concluded their discussions by outlining the immediate plans for the Consortium’s activities, including the development and launch of its website. They also discussed the upcoming MPEI Summer School on Renewable Energy Technologies and Innovations, to be hosted by Vietnam National University, with participation from Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI” and the Moscow Aviation Institute, from August 12 to 16, 2024. Finally, preparations for the 5th Meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese Commission on Cooperation in Education, Science, and Technology were also discussed.
