MPEI students participated in the Summer School in Dalian for the first time

 A 1st year IEPE Master's student and a 3rd year EPMM Bachelor's student participated in the Dalian University of Technology (DUT) Summer School in China from July 21 to August 3, 2024.

MPEI students were accompanied by Y.D. Naumova as a coordinator. She is head of the Department of Project Activities and Creative Competitions. 

​Dalian University of Technology was founded in 1949. It is one of the leading universities in China and it is directly managed by the Ministry of Education of China. DUT participates in the national projects "211" and "985". On the University territory there are a large campus, modern research equipment, and a large library. The University employs about 4,500 staff and there are nearly 50,000 students in 26 University departments.

This summer the "Romantic Dalian" programme organized by Dalian University of Technology included a variety of educational and cultural activities, such as: practical Chinese language classes, campus and city excursions, as well as introduction to Chinese technologies, traditions and culture. This year MPEI was provided with 2 state-funded places for the participation in the Summer School in Dalian.

In total, more than 40 students from all over the world such as Russia, Germany, Portugal, UK, USA, China and Korea participated in the programme.

Each day was eventful of lectures and practices from DUT professors, that allowed MPEI students to become utterly absorbed in the process of learning Chinese. The cultural programme was equally interesting as well. The students visited several historical and cultural sights of Dalian, participated in traditional Chinese ceremonies and even tried their hand at calligraphy. This provided an exciting opportunity to have a better grip of Chinese culture and traditions.

Kirill Gilev, who’s is an IEPE student said: "The trip gave me a variety of vivid impressions. I was amazed by the hospitality and friendliness of students and locals, the beauty of nature and architecture of Dalian, as well as the high level of education at DUT. This programme not only stock my mind with knowledge, but also inspired me for further achievements" .

All participants successfully completed their studies in Summer School in Dalian and they took the relevant qualifications.

The final event of the Summer School was the participants' presentations on their experience of short-term study in China. MPEI International Administration hopes for the development of cooperation with DUT and it waits for new applications from MPEI students to participate in academic mobility programmes!
