15 MPEI students participated in the Summer School in Xi'an

From July 17 to 24, 2024, MPEI students and Ph.D.-students attended the Summer School of Xi'an Jiaotong University in China.

Founded in 1896, Xi'an Jiaotong University is known as one of the oldest Universities in China. In particular, the University ranks highly in such fields as artificial intelligence, power engineering and humanities. Currently, at the University there are more than 59 thousand students, including more than 31 thousand master's students, more than 10 thousand Ph.D.-students.

Xi'an Jiaotong University has been MPEI partner for many years. The friendship and cooperation between our Universities dated from the 1950s. In 1954-1956 MPEI prof. Mikhail Mantrov worked at Jiaotong University in Shanghai, that in 1956 moved to Xi'an and it was renamed into Xi'an Jiaotong University. Prof. Mantrov made great contributions to the founding of the Department of Electrical Isolation and Cable Network in China and the Faculty of Electrical Isolation. Since 2015, Xi'an Jiaotong University and MPEI have also cooperated under the Universities Alliance of the New Silk Road.

This year Xi'an Jiaotong University provided MPEI with state-funded places for participation in the Summer School following the signing of a memorandum of cooperation.15 MPEI students and Ph.D.-students from IEPE, IREE, EEI, IHRE, IITCS, IPMM, ITNPE, IEEHT, IEEE, MPEI Voljskiy branch decided to take this splendid opportunity. All of them successfully passed the internal competitive admissions.

This year, Summer School was attended by about 170 foreign professors and students from 12 countries: Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Mongolia, Brunei, New Zealand and Azerbaijan. Through such activities as Chinese language learning, traditional Chinese calligraphy, kung fu, as well as excursions to the Terracotta Army Museum and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, participants were able to have a better grip of Chinese culture and to be inspired by the Xi'an beauty.

All participants successfully completed their studies at the Summer School, received the relevant certificates and cherished fond memories.
