MPEI Summer School on RES technologies and innovations was completed in Hanoi

In August 2024, MPEI held the Summer School of MPEI on RES technologies and innovations for 10-12 graders of specialized schools on the Hanoi State University (HSU) basis in Vietnam. The organization of the school was within implementation of agreements of the leaders of the countries to expand the activities of the Russian-Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities (RVCTU) for targeted training of personnel under higher education programs and career guidance activities in Vietnam.

The opening ceremony of the Summer School program was held with the participation of HSU administration. Anastasia Mashkova, Director on Integration Policy Development, Coordinator of the program from the Russian side, opened the program with a welcoming speech: “The Summer School project is aimed at strengthening the scientific and educational course for strategic development in the field of human resources policy of Vietnam. Successful mastering of the rich program will encourage graduates to develop their innovative potential, which will certainly contribute to the industry future of the country”.

Professor Truong Viet Ha, Director of the Center for Human Resource Development of HSU, emphasized that by joint efforts together with MPEI, they will be able to provide future students with the knowledge and competencies necessary for success in the power engineering sector. The project participants are also confident in this: “The Consortium Summer School program can significantly increase the level of our knowledge in the renewable energy field and other topics. With this opportunity, I would be happy to continue my studies at MPEI's Master's program”, - shared Nguyen Minh Tu, a student of HSU Law Institute.

The Summer School program included a modular educational package in English in the field of energy and digital technologies on various aspects of renewable energy, systems engineering, information technology, as well as the basics of the Russian language. The program includes lectures, seminars and practical classes, allowing participants to gain new knowledge and learn practical skills for their future professions in such fields as power engineering, electrical engineering, renewable energy, aircraft and drive engineering.

In addition to MPEI, the speakers of some individual modules were employees of Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI”, Moscow Aviation Institute and Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.

The coordinator of the project from the Vietnamese side is Prof. Le Tuan Anh, Director of Cooperation and Development Department of HSU: “The program is an important step in the implementation of agreements between the leaders of our countries on the need to strengthen cooperation between universities in order to train highly qualified personnel for key sectors of the economy and will certainly help students to choose their future profession”.

The results of the school will be summarized in Moscow in September at the fifth meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese Commission for Cooperation in Education, Science and Technology. The meeting will be jointly chaired by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Chang Hong Thai. It is planned to expand the Consortium and involve all its participants in holding the second school next summer.
