MPEI delegation visits Socialist Republic of Vietnam

MPEI International Division informs that MPEI delegation visited Socialist Republic of Vietnam by invitation of the International School of Vietnam National University (Hanoi) since 04.12.14 till 16.12.14 for negotiations concerning realization of joint educational programs and participation in events of the project "It is time to study in Russia".

The events of this project are aimed to increase an interest of the Vietnamese school- and university students in education in Russia. The purpose of the project is selection of the most talented graduates from national schools and students for training in Russian Universities.

The events in Vietnam included: informational round of the Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia!", edition of the reference book in Vietnamese language, coordination with Vietnamese partners to organize selection stage of the Academic Competition "It is time to study in Russia!". The total of school-students who took part in the first round exceeded 2300 people.

During the visit to Vietnam MPEI delegation was accepted by the President of Vietnam National University, MPEI Honourable Doctor, professor Phung Xuan Nha who asked to consider the issue concerning possibility of invitation to festive events of the governor of the province where is organized construction of the first Vietnamese NPP. The following issues were discussed:

1. VNU plans to create (on the basis of the new campus) together with MPEI a Center for energetics, including nuclear power engineering and consideration of the issue on joint preparation of the concept for such center, to discuss it with Intergovernmental commission, which meeting is planned for the beginning of the next year.

2. VNU considers important opening of a joint program with MPEI in the area of "Informatics and Computer Science" in English in 2015-2016 academic year, and it's necessary to fix the status of this program during the Intergovernmental commission.

Besides, the Vietnamese party expressed interest in the invitation of MPEI professors for more detailed study of the agreements reached during the visit of the Vietnamese delegation to MPEI at the end of October, 2014 and fixed in the working program.
