The Academic Competition "It is time to Study in Russia!" in Namibia and Zambia

Since the 26th of November to the 12th of December, 2016 in the Republic of Namibia and the Republic of Zambia there have taken place a number of events in frames of the Academic Competition "It is time to Study in Russia!" From the Russian part the representatives of the Consortium "It is time to Study in Russia!", the staff of the Russian Federation embassy to Namibia and the Russian center of science and culture in Zambia participated in the organization and carrying-out of the Academic Competition. The purpose of the Academic Competition was selection of the most talented graduates of the schools who wanted to study at the Russian universities in the technical specializations of preparation in frames of the quota determined by the Government of the Russian Federation for training of foreign citizens. Totally more than 900 graduates of schools have participated in the Academic Competition "It is time to Study in Russia!"

In Namibia selection events were held in Windhoek and Rundu, in Zambia - in Lusaka and Kitwe. Representatives of MISIS, MPEI and RUDN held not only wide presentations of their Universities to participants of the events, but also they provided in detail the conception of the Academic Competition, training system of the Russian language for foreign students at preparatory departments at the Russian universities. Marishkina Y., the expert from MPEI Department of international cooperation participated in the events.

Within the visit participants of the Russian delegation held a meeting with the management of University of Namibia (UNAM). According to UNAM Vice Rector on the international relations, further deepening of the cooperation between Universities of Namibia and Russia is based on traditionally favorable relation between the countries. As a result of the meeting there were reached the provisional arrangements concerning the signing of the agreement on cooperation between UNAM and MPEI.

С целью информационной поддержки мероприятий представители консорциума приняли участие в программе “The breakfast show”  на канале CBC с аудиторией порядка 2 млн. зрителей и в вечерней программе на радиостанции “Pheonix Radio” с аудиторией порядка 100 000 слушателей, где подробно рассказали о концепции Олимпиады, о ВУЗах-участниках, о российском образовании и предстоящих отборочных мероприятиях.

For the purpose of the event information support the representatives of the Consortium took part in "The breakfast show" program on CBC channel with audience about 2 million viewers and in the evening program at the broadcasting "Pheonix Radio" with audience about 100 000 listeners where they told in details about the conception of the Academic Competition, participating Universities, Russian education and the upcoming selection events.
