Participants of ERASMUS+ program at Wrocław University of Science and Technology

10.04.2017

The group of the students and Ph.D.-students who were trained in the fall semester (01.10.16 – 28.02.17) at Wrocław University of Science and Technology upon the Erasmus+ program returned to MPEI. These are 7 students and Ph.D.-students from the following institutes - Institute of Electrical Power Engineering, Institute of Automatics and Computer Engineering, Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics, Institute of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering and also Smolensk branch who were satisfied with implementation of the program at the partner University and they estimated the participation in the Erasmus+ program as useful opportunity allowing to advance the competence to the next level.

Each of participants has shared their impressions.

Anastasia Kotelnikova, Institute of Electrical Power Engineering, Master's programme:
"The most important point is education. I am quite satisfied with the level and quality of education provided by Wroclawska Politechnika. The most typical method that was used almost every day was to provide us with academic framework, and then to involve us in group work and the presentation. The advantage is that it promoted the best onboarding in the multicultural environment.

Especially it would be desirable to note the work of Buddy Programme. Polish students helped us throughout all the semester with all emerged difficulties. Also, international departments of MPEI and the Host University did their best to facilitate our onboarding and to help us with legal paperwork. Summing up the result, I can tell that I couldn't imagine the best experience that I had in Wroclaw."

vgeny Ignatyev, Institute of Electrical Power Engineering, graduate study:
I was trained at the faculty of Electrical Power Engineering on the courses "Automation and Security in Power Systems" - lecture and practical course, "Modeling of electrical machines (Modelling of Electrical Machines)" - a lecture course and the project, "Energy Storage" - a lecture course and the project. Also, I have attended classes on the course of the Polish language (A1 level) and the Japanese language (A2 level).

Since classes were given in English it has allowed us to get additional language practice. Quality of education was at the highest level – good academic programs, professors who were proficient in the English language, classrooms with all necessary equipment. The special mention should be made of the University library with its magnificent funds of scientific and technical literature and the periodical press, and convenient electronic section and the reading room.

The program members can participate in the conferences and exhibitions held by the University. During the training, I decided to participate in the power engineering conference "Smart Match 2016 - Green energy" where I established useful scientific contacts with experts from other countries. By the aid of acquaintance with one of them – Doctor of Engineering of Wroclaw Polytechnic University Pshemyslav Schultz, the employee of Power Engineering Department – I managed to get fully acquainted with the equipment and material and technical supply of the Department of hydraulic engines of the Wroclaw Polytechnic University to perform the laboratory class and research work (that corresponds to the area of my scientific research). Pshemyslav Schulz gave the invaluable help in the organization of visit to three hydro-power plants in the territory of Dolnoslansky province of the Republic of Poland.

During the training in frames of the Erasmus+ program Department of doctoral studies of Power Engineering Department of Wroclaw Polytechnic University headed by prof. Rosolovsky provided me with temporary research supervisors - prof. Soberaysky and prof. Voytsekhovsky who acted as tutors during my research."

I would like to pay special attention to the excellent work of both host and sending parties – coordinators of Erasmus + program. Alina Dorosh and Irina Kulik paid much attention to participants, quickly and efficiently helping to resolve the issues that should be solved. Positive attitude is deserved by dedicated work of dean's office. The curator from the Buddy-program system helps to resolve many issues during the onboarding. The events organized according to the ESN program allow to get acquainted with participants from other countries. By the aid of tours within ESN-program there is the opportunity to get to know better with the host country.

The experience got within the program was very useful to me. I would like to participate in it with great pleasure once again!

Vladislav Berezovsky, Institute of Electrical Power Engineering, graduate study:
"I was trained during the fall semester at the Department of Power Engineering of the Wroclaw Polytechnic University. I attended the Management courses in Power engineering, Electric power quality, and Optimization and Numerical techniques. As make-up classes, there was possible to attend the language course and to participate in sports classes. For example, I attended the A1 course of the Polish language and I practiced badminton.

Participation in the Erasmus + program allows gaining new professional knowledge and competence, to improve the English language and to get acquainted with the language of the host country, to strike up new acquaintances and to establish business contacts, to compare quality of education in Russia and abroad. Many professors of Wroclaw Polytechnic University are scientists recognized in the international environment; they give ideas of topical issues concerning science and technology within the held courses.

At Wroclaw Polytechnic University many foreign students are trained in accordance to the exchange programs and full-time study programs. The international environment of the University allows to get acquainted with other cultures. The Buddy-program curators are always ready to help with the solution of popular questions and issues concerning the onboarding, they support students' hobby.

Curators from MPEI and PWR International Department are always ready to help with organizational and educational issues throughout all training. There is a wish to thank the staff of the international department for understanding and readiness to intervene on behalf of the students in case of possible force majeure"

Evgeny Sharanov, Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics, Master's program:

"Certainly, participation in the Erasmus + program is an excellent opportunity to develop the language and professional skills. Unequivocally I can recommend the training at Wroclaw Polytechnic University according to this program.

A good impression was made by professors from the chosen courses, interesting lectures and laboratory courses. Special programs for foreign students are also created there: Buddy-program, ESN that helps to get used quickly to local conditions, to organize the trips to the cities of Poland and Europe, to diversify the leisure and to make new friends."

Irina Smirnova, Institute of Thermal and Nuclear Power Engineering, Master's program:

"Erasmus + is an excellent program where it is possible to get invaluable experience of studying in Europe. This experience includes improvement of language, skills of international communication, personal enrichment, a variety of learning courses and modern methods of training. Every student gets bilateral assistance, both from the native and the host universities that is rather important part of training."

Ivan Shamaev, Institute of Automatics and Computer Engineering, Bachelor's program:
"Participation in the Erasmus + program is an excellent opportunity to add the technical knowledge gained at native University and to develop the language skills. Training in technical English is a kind of magnificent practice.

At Wroclaw Polytechnic University I studied at the Department of Informatics and Management, area of study - Informatics. I liked very much the opportunity to choose courses of study since any academic year or even from another Department.

All professors adequately know the English language and they are interested in training of students.

I am satisfied with the program hundred percent, and I would like to participate in future international programs whenever possible."

Anastasia Zhigareva, MPEI Smolensk branch, Dept. of Management and information technology, Bachelor's program:
"Definitely I would recommend participating in such a program. It is a unique opportunity not only to gain new skills, but also to learn foreign languages, to get acquainted with other culture, to strengthen and to improve knowledge of the English language, to communicate with other participants of the program from other countries. Accommodation and educational conditions are at the highest level. Many processes are automated. Professors treat students very adequately and in a non-judgmental manner. The dean's office and the international department are always ready to help, besides, there is ESN and Buddy-program. By the aid of these programs amusement is not only informative, but it is cheerful and interesting. Besides, the program coordinator Irina Kulik was always in touch - in case of misunderstanding, it was possible to address her. Without any doubt, if there is the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus + program again, I will surely submit the application."
