MPEI at the international press conference on the project "One Belt — One Way"

Last week Dean of Foreign Students of MPEI Alexander Ankin participated in the international press conference organized by Datong World Association and Vice governor of Gansu province on the project "One Belt — One Way" to coordinate the admission of foreign students for training at MPEI.

During the visit a meeting of the Russian delegation representatives with alumni of the senior degree of the Lanzhou Universities, their parents and professors was arranged.

More than 150 parents, students of graduation classes and their professors participated in the meeting. For the career guidance there was shown the presentation giving the idea of the University, areas of preparation, conditions for implementation of academic programs. The attention was paid to language training of foreign students and the social sphere. Booklets about scientific and educational activity at MPEI and information sheets in the Chinese and English languages were distributed among the meeting participants.

Alexander Ankin held meetings with administration at Lanzhou University of Technology and Lanzhou Polytechnic Institute.

The range of discussed questions was potential implementation of exchange programs focused on professors and students. Besides, at Lanzhou industrial institute the issues concerning scientific cooperation were discussed. The president of the Institute announced his desire to create joint laboratory at MPEI with financing by the government of the People's Republic of China to perform joint researches of energy supply of various type.

The conference "One Belt — One Way" was opened by the representative of Gansu Province Administration Chi Zhaylin, the deputy secretary general. It has been noted that the member countries of the consortium "One Belt — One Way" unanimously wished to advance mutual interrelations. There was put the emphasis on assistance for openness to the access to education systems for the western regions of China, vigorous work concerning training of foreign students in China and the Chinese students in Russia. It is noted that many Russian Universities have vast experience in training of foreign citizens, and in the sphere of implementation of exchange programs both upon two diploma programs, and in exchange education. Besides, Universities are ready for cooperation performing joint scientific research.

The representative of UNESCO association of Gansu Province, the representative of association of the international cultural exchanges of Gansu Province and others made their speeches on behalf of the inviting party.

Finally, the protocols on intentions for cooperation between the Russian and Chinese Universities were signed. From MPEI part the agreement on intent was initialed to perform admission and training at university by the Chinese party and to review the question concerning the creation of the joint research laboratory financed by the Chinese government and the private enterprise Gansu Top Distributed Energy Technology co, LTD.

By results of the visit to Lanzhou it is possible to point out three perspective areas of cooperation supported by Center of the international cultural exchanges of Gansu Province and senior staff of universities:

• to perform the propaganda among enrollees and students aimed at creation of the positive image of the Russian Universities for the training in Russia including exchange programs;
• to create the bilateral exchange programs for faculty staff;
• to create and implement the projects concerning the joint research and development survey.
