Cooperation expansion with Chinese Universities – members of the New Silk Road Alliance

On 22.09.15, a delegation from Lanzhou University of Technology headed by Rector Wang Xiaoming visited MPEI.

The Lanzhou University of Technology (LUT) is a university of natural and technical profile that was founded in 1919 in Lanzhou City, the capital of Gansu Province, and it was an important point on the Great Silk Road. At present, the University includes 20 Institutes, where 43 000 students are studying. The teaching staff consists of 1505 employees, among them: 1 member of Academy of Sciences of China, 191 professors, 472 associate professors. In May, 2015 LUT as well as MPEI, became the member of New Silk Road Alliance.

During the visit of the delegation, a observed excursion on MPEI was organized, a presentation was made and scopes of cooperation expansion in various directions were discussed, one of which has already been launched by joint realization of international program of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in power engineering sector. At present, within the framework of this program, 2 masters' degree program students from Lanzhou University of Technology - WANG TAO and MA BIAO are studying at MPEI. A meeting was organized between the students and the delegates, where the students shared their impressions about education process, student's life in MPEI and their achieved results in study. 

The culmination of the visit was the reception of the delegation by MPEI Rector Nikolay Rogalev and the signing of Contract on Cooperation as well as defining its specific steps set by the Minutes of the meeting.
