MPEI Vice-Rector moderated a business breakfast at the Russia-Africa Forum

On July 28, 2023, Alexander Tarasov, MPEI Vice-Rector on International Relations, moderated a round table "Nuclear technologies for sustainable development of the African countries: the role of the Russian and Soviet universities’ Alumni" was held on the basis of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in the format of a business breakfast. The event took place within the framework of the Second summit and humanitarian forum "Russia – Africa". It was organized with the support of the Rosatom State Corporation and the Peoples' Friendship University named after Patrice Lumumba. .

Andrey Rudskoy, Rector of SPbPU, opened the event. Among the participants from the Russian side there were Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Valery Karezin, Director of Educational Programs of Rosatom State Corporation, and Yury Seleznev, Rector of the Rosatom Technical Academy.

The round table was moderated by Dmitry Arseniev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of SPbPU, Alexander Tarasov, Vice-Rector on International Relations of MPEI, and Ngan Tony Francois Simon Pierre, President of the Association of Graduates of Russian (Soviet) Universities in Cameroon.

MPEI has long years' experience in cooperation and training of highly qualified personnel in the energy field for African countries. In 2021 MPEI became one of the main founders of the consortium "Russian-African Network University" (RAFU). In 2022, it took part in the Summer Multidisciplinary University “Russia-Africa”​.

It is also worth noting that MPEI is a key partner of Rosatom State Corporation in the field of personnel training. The parties develop cooperation in educational, scientific and technical, innovation and research activities in the field of hydrogen and wind energy, nuclear power plants, nuclear infrastructure and waste management methods, automated control systems in the market of thermal, nuclear and renewable energy, thermal power and heat engineering, electrical engineering, laser and additive technologies, digital energy, digital products and cyber security.
