MPEI students successfully completed their studies at summer schools in China

In spring 2023, there were chosen the best MPEI students to study under summer school program in China. Chinese MPEI partner-universities provided an opportunity to study the Chinese language and they offered the choice of modern program that comply with the world trends in education: green energy, future technologies, artificial intelligence and many more.

Based on the results of the competitive selection, 10 students from MPEI visited the following universities in China to study:

• Beijing Institute of Technology, (Beijing). About 200 teachers and students from more than 40 foreign universities in 17 countries took part in the summer school.

• Harbin Institute of Technology, (Harbin). This year 427 participants from different countries were attracted to Harbin Summer School.

• Xi'an Jiaotong University, (Xian). The total number of the School participants is 70 people.

In the first days, the participants of each school were given a tour of the university and the study program was presented in detail. The highly topical programme included lectures by Chinese professors, practical studies, Chinese language and culture studies. During the summer schools the participants were able to visit the sights of the cities, to taste traditional cuisine and to get acquainted with the traditions of the country.

At the end of the program, the summer school participants were given a certificate of successful final exam and the course completed.

The student from Institute of Information Technologies and Computer Science - Anna Platonova speaks: Participation in the summer school of Harbin Institute of Technology summer school is an incredible experience for any student, thanks to which I got to know people from different countries such as South Korea, Mongolia, Thailand and China. The opportunity to interact with people from different cultural backgrounds and to share scientific experiences with them inspires and motivates me to continue my studies.

Dmitriy Polozov, a student from Institute of Radio Engineering and Electronics, Chairman of the Student Research Society speaks: The Summer School in Harbin Institute of Technology gave me an opportunity to get acquainted with professors and students of a foreign university, to get valuable information on current directions of development and research and approaches to the organization of youth science in a Chinese university. The summer school allowed me to find not only friends, but also new colleagues for the implementation of international scientific projects and to form the basis for the international direction of SRS activities.

There are many advantages of participation in summer schools. Firstly, it allows you to experience a multilingual environment and to improve your English speaking skills. Secondly, such courses do not take much time, but they allow you to focus on the language environment, culture and traditions of the host country. This is a great opportunity to be prepared for further study and life in the country. For example, in September, a student from MPEI who took part in the Summer School will go to Beijing Institute of Technology for a whole year to continue studying Chinese and to follow the university program.
