GEIDCO and MPEI continue to develop the cooperation

On August 28, 2023, representatives of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organisation (GEIDCO) visited MPEI.

Nikolay Rogalev, MPEI Rector, accepted the delegation.

The agenda of the meeting was the invitation of Nikolay Rogalev to the 6th Global Energy Interconnection Conference, which will be held on September from 25 to 27, 2023 in Beijing (China). Participants will discuss issues related to sustainable energy, clean energy development, new energy system and cross-border energy interaction.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to deepen strategic cooperation and continue working on new fields of the cooperation.

Note:

In 2015, Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China, proposed the Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) initiative at the UN Sustainable Development Summit. Over the past one year, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organisation (GEIDCO) was found to solve this task.

GEIDCO is considered the most important element of the Energy Silk Road. The main aim set by the authors of the project is to promote the development of the unification of world energy through the pooling of experience and knowledge in the field of electric power, advanced technologies, the integration of resources of energy companies to promote projects for the creation of intersystem connections and energy associations in the aspect of the development of clean energy and renewable energy sources.

In 2020, the Russian National Committee of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organisation was opened at the MPEI. Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of the MPEI was elected Chairman of the National Committee.
