The museum recreates the office of Gleb Krzhizhanovsky, a key architect of the GOELRO Plan and Vice President of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The walls, interior elements, and original furniture from his 1920s office were preserved and transferred to MPEI by the JSC ENIN.

The exhibition not only honors Krzhizhanovsky but also Karl Krug, an electrical engineer and an important figure in shaping the GOELRO Plan. Gled Krzhizhanovsky chaired the State Commission, and Karl Krug would later found the Moscow Power Engineering Institute.

The creation of the GOELRO Museum at MPEI carries deep symbolism. The ideas laid down in the national electrification plan not only defined the future of the country’s power engineering sector but also made the emergence of a university like MPEI inevitable. Today, the museum preserves this legacy and offers students and visitors a meaningful space to explore how Russia’s power engineering story began.
