MPEI at the International conference and Erasmus + personnel Week in Riga, Latvia15.12.2016Since the 6th of November to the 13th of November, 2016 National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" participated in a number of the events held in frames of the International conference and Erasmus + personnel Week at Stradins University in Riga, Latvia.A similar series of events is annually organized in EU countries. Their purpose is a discussion of the topical issues and problems arising during Erasmus + program implementation between universities of the participating countries, and also between universities of the participating countries and universities of the partner countries, attempts of searching of effective solutions, introduction and discussion of the new ideas on internationalization of the higher education, exchange of good practice. This year more than 100 representatives of universities, mainly universities of the EU and the CIS countries, and also representatives of the national agencies Erasmus+ participated in the events. Key persons involved in the meeting were Johannes Gehringer, the representative of general management of the European Commission on issues of education and culture (Belgium); Geiko Ff. Marten, Director of DAAD representative office (German Academic Exchange Service) in Latvia; Andis Geyzhans, parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia; Lesley Wilson, secretary general of Association of the European universities (Belgium). National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" was represented by the university coordinator of the Erasmus + program Irina A. Kulik.The events included plenary sessions, round tables, and interactive sessions with involvement of affinity working groups, sessions of the contact establishment and searching of new partners. During the events Irina Kulik held a number of meetings, presented MPEI to potential partners, marked the targeted areas of the cooperation, such as exchange of students and professors in programs of the academic mobility, development of joint training programs, joint research activities, exchange of scientific materials and publications, etc., and Irina discussed possible ways of their implementation.Besides, during the visit to Riga there one more important mission was performed – there was established the contact with representatives of the local agencies of the higher education concerning the students' admission, there were discussed the issues of the cooperation and there were reached the primary agreements on involvement of the Latvian enrollees to MPEI.
